Watercolor on paper. Signed and dated 1930 on the lower right corner. Loria was born in Salerno and studied in Naples where was known for his skills in watercoloring. He settled down in Naples after traveling around Europe, dedicating to the city and to the surrounding areas a wide prodution; in particular his landscapes of pompeian glimpses and of the wall paintings preserved under the ashes and discovered during the archaeological excavations ( Loria painted " Houeses and monument of Pompei" in 1887 in Naple), were highly sought after as well as the painting representing oriental styled or eighteen-century customed exotic scenes. In 1929 Loria moved to La Spezia where he lived his last ten years till death: in the Poets' Gulf the salernitan painter was again inspired after a period of inactivity. The painting in question belogs to this last period. Displayed in frame.
