Description : LA musa Euterpe
Oil on canvas. Tuscan School. Allegorical female figure maliciously smiling and half-naked; her head is surrounded by a leaves crown and she is holding a zuffolo from which we can recognize Euterpe, muse of music and lyric poetry. Her name means " She who cheeres up and gladdens" undelining the recreational and alienating function of music. The painting in questions still on the original canvas but shows signs of restoring works. Propriety label on the back. Farmed.
