Description : Il passo delle Ande tra Cile ed Argentina
Oil on cardboard. Signed lower left. On the back the title, which locates the mountain locality depicted. Born in Como, where he lived, self-taught, Luigi Binaghi known as Gin, was an academic painter but above all an expert mountaineer and crowned his intense activity as a climber with his participation in the Italian expeditions in the Chilean Andes in 1934 and Peruvian in 1958. For Binaghi the passion for the mountain then found natural expression in painting; his subjects were therefore the gravity of the snow-capped mountains, the solemn beauty of the ice, the virgin peaks of 5000 meters. The painting is presented in a contemporary frame.
