Wilferdo Lam was an artist from Cuba that longly lived in Europe where he met emerging artists as Pablo Picasso and all his friends (Joan Mirò, Fernand Lèger, Henri Matisse, Paul Eluard, Georges Braque). His style coulb be considered as the sum of several painting movements that he met along his journey: his works are characterised by traits similar to those of primitive graffiti mixed with cubist influences and surrealist atmospheres, thus combining Western modernism with African and Caribbean symbols. Although he lived in Europe for a long time (his stays in Albissola Marina in Liguria are particularly noteworthy), he remained attached to his homeland and never neglected his attention to world problems, striving to "paint the drama of his country, the cause and the spirit of the blacks". The proposed serigraph is presented in a frame.
