Description

Gueridon Maison Charles tripod, supported by saber legs with hoofed feet and connected by a circular crosspiece, in the upper part there are curls from which hang rings; in black and golden lacquered brass, round top in black marble with border in golden brass. Maison Charles (sometimes also called Maison Charles et fils) was founded by Ernst Charles, who bought a company of bronzes, then specializing in the production of lighting. Established on the market for their great skill in working with bronze, Ernst's nephews Jean, who had studied interior design and wood carving at the Boulle School in Paris, and Jacques, who had obtained a qualification in applied arts and interior design, also joined the company in the 1950s.
