Description : Scorcio di piazza Duomo a Milano
Oil on canvas. Signed at the bottom right. This is a view of Piazza del Duomo in Milan, taken from the left side of the basilica, from which we can see the monument to Vittorio Emanuele II and the entrance to Via dei Mercanti. Giovanni Colombo, known as Da Busnago (from the name of his town of origin), distinguished himself in the post-war period mainly for his landscapes and views, dedicated to Venice and Paris, but above all to Milan, his adopted city, of which he portrayed the characteristic corners and in particular the picturesque views of the Navigli with pictorial immediacy and vivacity, always painting from life and remaining faithful to a naturalistic style derived from Impressionism. The worpainting is presented in a revival frame.
