Vase Holder Column Wood Italy 17th Century

Oil painting on canvas. Bolognese school of the XVII -XVIII century. Mary and the Child Jesus, who is in the arms of his standing mother, with his arms already extended to recall the Cross, are placed against a naturalistic background, which fades into a rosy sky in the distance, while on the right stands the shaft of a column. The faces of the two figures show a strong resemblance in the somatic features, in particular the eyes stand out, highly expressive in their seriousness. The pictorial methods look to the painting of Elisabetta Sirani (1638 -1665), who influenced Bolognese painting by introducing expressive and emotional modalities very early in the gazes of her characters. The work, restored and relined, is presented in an antique frame.

Ink and watercolor on paper. Flemish School. On the back there is a lebel of a importantant private collection. The scketched drawing shows a view of a valley from a path on a hill that leads to a wood. Displayed in a revival frame.

Silvered and lacquered Baroque torch holder engraved with leafy scrolls; the marbled bas had been added later.

Les Gueux, 1622 (complete series)

Etchings. This is the complete series of 25 engravings on paper of the "Beggars" (Les Gueux), made by the French engraver in Nancy, and widely reproduced for the popularity it obtained; Rembrandt, who owned a collection of Callot's prints, was inspired by them for his beggar figures. Beggars or commoners of Italian origin are depicted (Callot drew them in Italy) who symbolize the poverty and the wounds of the human condition. The engravings have not been signed by the author, but have been numbered; only the first engraving, which portrays a very humble character carrying a flag with the words "Captain De Baroni", and which also represents the title page of the collection, shows the name of the painter and engraver. The whole series is presented in frames in style.

Oil painting on canvas. The risen Christ is depicted half-length, wrapped in a red mantle, symbol of his humanity, while he holds in one hand the Cross, surmounted by two palms, symbol of martyrdom, but also by a precious crown, symbol of his royalty. At the top right, where the light comes from, a trumpet appears, the sound of which announces the Final Judgment. The work, restored and relined, is presented in a period frame (with several small faults).

Bergamo, late 17th, early 18th century

Chest of drawers from Bergamo in walnut. The molded top that opens halfway and the front of the first drawer that drops down gives space to a desk compartment with cabinet made in the 20th century. The front has four drawers (three of which are real) decorated with walnut root veneered tiles. Handles depicting small tritons facing each other in bronze and vents that are not contemporary but a copy of the ancient ones. Interior in poplar and fir. Partially carved bracket feet.

Central Italy, late 17th, early 18th century

Semicircular console in walnut. Maple purfling on top, undertop with dentil motif frame. Legs turned and carved with acanthus leaves and nut under the top connected by crosspieces.

Italy, Late XVII Century

Chest in walnut covered with sheet metal and wrought iron bands, decorated and held by studs, Italy, late 17th century. Pair of doors on the front concealing cabinet with drawers and lower compartment. Door locks missing.

Italy, First Quarter XVIII Century

Baroque demi-lune console in walnut, later embellished with shaped parts placed on the legs, Italy first quarter of the 18th century. Lyre-shaped legs connected by a crossbar and by arrows under the top. Restorations on the floor.

Piacenza Early XVIII Century

Baroque chest in walnut, Piacenza early 18th century. Indented band under the top, front with pair of applied side panels and inlaid central panel; paneling and frames also on the sides. Restoration and replacement of hinges and feet.
