Description : Scena di banchetto

Oil painting on canvas. North European school. The scene is set on the wide tree-lined avenue inside a park, with streams of water and grazing sheep: under the foliage of the trees that create a green dome, a group of gentlemen is feasting, surrounded by the servant who carries the wine drawn from the lot under the tree on the left, from the maid carrying the food and from a little girl playing with her wooden pony; on the top of a tree on the left, a red parrot stands out, a reference to the exoticism in vogue at that time. The strong perspective created by the tree-lined avenue stands out with the two small streams on either side, to give depth to the scene. The canvas has a vertical fold on the left and a horizontal one at the bottom, which probably indicate a previous reworking of the canvas. In good condition, the work is presented in a late 19th century frame, with lacks.
