Description : Composizione floreale con pappagallo
Oil painting on canvas. The valuable composition presents a variety of colorful flowers mixed with fruits, presented in an outdoor setting, with a basket, terracotta and ceramic vases displayed on square stones placed on the ground and on a tree stump; at the top left, a colored budgie completes the vivid representation. The painting clearly looks at the large pictorial production carried out in Venice in the first half of the 18th century, and assigned to the "Master of the Guardeschi Flowers", that is the production long attributed to the famous Venetian artist Francesco Guardi. These scenographic compositions - wild flowers on a neutral background - were often made to be inserted in boiserie or in wall frames, as airy and bright decorative elements in the most typical Rococo style. According to the art scholar Dr. Gianluca Bocchi in reality much of the production of these floral subjects, attributed to Guardi, was actually prior to his production and attributable rather to that of another one in the Venetian workshop, the one belonging to the Duramano family, in particular to Francesco Duramano to whom it is attributed the production of the highest quality level and also of larger works of these subjects. The work proposed here is presented in a frame.
