Oil on the table. On the back, bottom right, the signature and title of the work can be read against the light. It is a typical landscape of England, characterized on the right by a vast rather barren plain, occupied by a swampy body of water, while on the left you can see a path that goes into the scrub and crossed by wayfarers and shepherds with their flocks. . This is the typical Norfolk landscape produced by landscape architect Robert Ladbrooke, born and lived in Norwich and co-founder in 1805 with John Crome of the Norwich School of painters. The painting is presented in a late 19th century frame, with a small lack.

Robert Ladbrooke was born in Norwich in 1768. Initially a portrait painter, he then moved on to landscape, mainly portraying glimpses of his homeland, Norfolk. In 1805 he founded the Norwich School of painters with John Crome, with whom he collaborated and exhibited for many years. He also made some aquatints from his drawings. Ladbrooke died in Norwich in 1842.
