Oil on hardboard. Signed on the back card. Born in Milan in 1913, and trained at the Brera Academy (of which he later became a teacher), Adriano Gajoni became passionate about the study of seventeenth-century Lombard painters and Dutch and Flemish painting of the seventeenth century, from whose meticulous realism he let himself be inspired. Of strict figurative observance, Gajoni preferred landscapes, portraits and above all still lifes, which he expressed in fairy-tale and allegorical compositions. He mainly practiced oil painting on wood and hardboard. This painting proposes a composition of vegetables scattered on the table, with two dead birds hanging and some antique kitchen tools. Bronze plaque. Close to the taste of Art Nouveau, this bas-relief proposes a very graceful and earthly sacred maternity, with garlands of flowers that surround the two embraced figures, intent on exchanging a glance, while two lilies on the sides frame. The plaque is mounted in a style frame.

View of Lake Como, seen from the Lecco side of the lake, in correspondence with the small church of San Martino di Lierna, a small Romanesque church located along the medieval road that descends from the village of Casate to the village of Grumo. It is the work of the Milanese artist Fortunato Zangli, who distinguished himself as a landscape painter. The work is presented in a frame lacking external strips.

Originally from Palermo, but from Milan by training, Gian Rodolfo D'Accardi made his debut in the 1930s, achieving widespread success throughout Italy. His production ranges from landscapes to portraits, from still lifes to masks: of a vague post-impressionist mold, his art is expressed with bright and harmonious colors and with imaginative forms, pervaded with poetic intensity. Among his subjects is the vast and varied series of horses and riders in the woods, to which the work presented here also belongs. In frame.

The work well expresses the ability of the Russian artist Ivan Karpoff, who moved to Italy as a young man and remained there until his death, to tell a Lombard landscape, with a Slavic sensitivity, transferring typical elements of his homeland.
