Description : Cristo alla colonna

Oil on canvas. Sacred subject that proposes the moment of the Passion of Christ in which he, stripped of thorns, is tied to the column of the Sanhedrin to be scourged. The work underlines the whole human part, painful and distraught, of Christ: no light surrounds him, the gaze is low and resigned, the body humiliated and bent, although vigorous and strong, to express well the young age of Jesus. Him, only the darkness, no other person, no background: it is the extreme loneliness of the condemned to death. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a period frame.
