Thomas Bigelow Craig was born in Philadelphia, where he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and lived until 1899, when he moved to New York City after already exhibiting his work in the city and becoming a member of the National Academy of Design in 1887. He subsequently exhibited in various exhibitions and art reviews in all American states. Craig became known and appreciated above all for his paintings depicting cows in summer environments and landscapes with meadows and streams. Craig died in 1924 in Woodland, New York.
