Oil on wooden board. On the back you have the signature, the date, the title of the work and its technical characteristics. The work is well representative of the production of the Roman artist Paolo Fiorentino, whose pictorial research was always attentive to the form, buildings, architecture with particular attention to the suggestions of that produced in Italy, and beyond, between the two wars . His buildings with geometric lines and opaque or glossy surfaces stand out suspended against solid-coloured backgrounds. They are the urban elements of the collective imagination, which in Fiorentino's paintings appear real and dreamlike at the same time, if not metaphysical.

Additional Information
Artist: Paolo Fiorentino (1965-2019)
Born in Rome in 1965 and died in the same city in 2019. He made his debut in the 80s as a very young plein air painter. He went around his beloved city to paint small views on wood of the Rome he loved most, portions of urban landscapes in which the dialogue between nature and ancient ruins was tinged with beauty. In the 1990s he was one of the founders of the Il Polittico gallery and greatly contributed to the success of that cultural space. In 1996 his participation in the Rome Quadrennial sanctioned his definitive success at a national level among emerging painters. In 2002 he won the Michetti Prize and shortly thereafter became part of the stable of Italian Factory artists who also consecrated him on an international level. Towards the end of the 2000s he began a backward journey of great reflection which slowly led him to isolate himself more and more from the environment of the contemporary art world, which he now considered a superficial and ephemeral world. He has participated in numerous exhibitions, personal and collective, in Italy and abroad. His works have been presented in France, Portugal, Switzerland, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Australia, Croatia, Serbia and other areas of Eastern Europe. His pictorial research, with essential and rationalist results, was always attentive to the form, buildings, architecture with particular attention to the suggestions of that produced in Italy, and beyond, between the two wars.Age: Contemporary
It is difficult to define what Contemporary Art is, because it does not correspond to a time period or to a unique and specific artistic current. According to the subdivision of art into historical periods, the period of Contemporary Art would begin in 1789, at the end of Modern Art, and with the introduction to that century, the nineteenth, which sees the appearance of a new and revolutionary, Photography, and that begins to search for a different way of looking at reality and representing it, in particular with Impressionism, which chooses to mediate the vision of reality with the filter of feelings that it evokes. On the other hand, the whole twentieth century is permeated by the rise of numerous pictorial currents, which try to interpret the demands of the present using new means of production and adapting to the times and ways of life and which filter reality through feelings, intimist visions. , metaphysical interpretations, generating different multiple pictorial currents. Therefore, many believe that contemporary art is that mode of artistic expression that tends to involve new means of expression that range from performance, photography, installation, video, digital processing, to text, thus starting from some currents. avant-garde of the twentieth century and reaching up to the present day. But be careful: to date, in any century, a wide representation of artists has never disappeared in artistic pictorial production who have chosen to remain faithful to the most traditional pictorial technique, as well as to the representation of reality in the most consistent and objective way possible, which therefore can be considered Contemporary only in a more temporal sense, that is because they lived in the last decades of the current historical period.Subject: City views / glimpses
Artistic technique: Pittura
Technical specification: Oil on panel
