Oil painting on canvas. signed and dated below; on the back another signature, date, location in Milan and title. The work is accompanied by an autographed declaration of authenticity by the artist, drawn up in 2001 for the Galleria Progressiv Art Group in Milan. Renowned ceramist and sculptor, as well as a painter, who passed from concrete abstraction to the great season of the Informal, Franco Meneguzzo was an independent and counter-current artist who transformed his creative rage into vital force. The work dated 1962 dates back to the artistic period of Meneguzzo dedicated for a few years to painting alone, a period in which his paintings propose a clear, almost geometric score of the spaces, in which the colors spread in a light, almost transparent form allow the emergence as through x-rays, hidden elements. The work is presented in a frame.

Additional Information
Artist: Franco Meneguzzo (1924-2008)
Franco Meneguzzo was born in 1924 in Valdagno in the province of Vicenza, vital. He embarked on his own artistic journey in the post-war years even if in 1942 he attended the Vicenza Conservatory and until 1951 he worked as a textile worker at the Marzotto wool mill. In parallel with the work of economic support, from 1949 he frequented the ceramic workshop of Tarciso Tosin in Vicenza. He actively participates in artistic activities that look to the European and American avant-gardes, and to abstract art. He soon became a painter, sculptor, ceramist, graphic designer and draftsman capable of independently reworking the revolutionary stylistic innovations of the time. In 1953 he held his first solo exhibition at the Galleria del Calibano in Vicenza where the geometric abstractionism of his works aroused mixed reactions, not always positive. In 1955 he moved to Milan and together with Bruno Danese he founded Dem (Danese and Meneguzzo), an activity dedicated to the production and dissemination of design objects; Danese takes care of the commercial part and Franco Meneguzzo creates limited edition ceramics, which met with great public success, especially among architects and designers. In 1956 the artist's personal exhibition was held at the Galleria dell'Ariete in Milan presented by Gillo Dorfles, as well as in 1960 and 1962 the Galleria il Milione organized his personal exhibitions. In the 1970s he devoted himself mainly to sculpture, in particular to the “ferri” series, sculptures attributable to the geometric module. Important exhibitions follow one another and he participates in the M.A.C. (Concrete Art Movement). Meneguzzo later collaborated with Bruno Munari and Enzo Mari. His ceramics and iron sculptures are kept in numerous public and private collections, in Italy and in Europe. Meneguzzo died in Milan in 2008.
