Oil painting on canvas. Northern European school of the 19th century. Portrait of a curvy and composed lady, in sober house dress. Restored and relined, it is presented in a period frame.

Swiss Landscape 1857

Colored lithograph. Signed and dated at the bottom left. Jean-Pierre Thènot was a french painter, draftman, engravor and author of painting treatises. The lithograph shows a landscape view with high waterfalls on the right, probably the Staubbach Falls in the canton of Berne, and is animated by figures of shepherds with their flocks and couples on gallant walks; in the centre of the landscape is a chalet. The lithograph is part of a series of landscapes of Switzerland. The art piece comes in a coeval gilded frame.

Oil painting on canvas. The portrait of the young man, elegantly dressed, is inscribed in an oval outline. There are slight drops of color and signs of sagging of the canvas. It therefore needs restoration. It is presented in a coeval frame, with various signs of wear, to be restored.

Male Portrait 1877

Pencil on paper. Signed and dated lower right, in the oval. It is an early work by the well-known sculptor Luigi De Paoli, corresponding to the years of study at the Venice Academy. He also devoted himself to painting only in the last years of his life. The work is presented in a late 19th century frame.

Divorce de l'impèratrice Josèphine

Engraving. Below the title, the names of the characters and the name of the engraver. The subject is taken from the work of Henri Frédéric Schopin (1804-1880), which recounts the episode of the divorce of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte from his wife Josephine, which took place on 15 December 1809 in the Tuileries palace in Paris, and signed in the presence of Bonaparte family. Engraved by Jean Pierre Marie Jazet, it is part of a series dedicated to the life of Napoleon. The engraving is presented in a beautiful coeval gilded frame, which shows small lacks and damages.

Matinèe du dix-huit brumaire (salon de Mme. Bonaparte)

Engraving. Below the title, the names of the characters and the name of the engraver. Fabric embroidery. The embroidery represents a half-length girl in a popular costume with a mask, in the comedy of art style. It is mounted on a wooden frame with two side handles, commanding a rear coupling, probably being a closing panel.

Oil painting on canvas. Lombard school of the 19th century. The large portrait of the prelate in the foreground is characterized by the background behind him, where a church and a convent structure can be seen, probably the places where the priest exercised his ministry. The man rests his right hand on some books to his right, also underlining his role as a scholar. The painting is presented in a gilded frame from the early 1900s.

View of Venice

Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. Several Venetian views of this English artist are known, with views of the Grand Canal populated by small boats with orange triangular sails; pastel, delicate and bright shades prevail. The work is presented in a stylish frame.

Madonna with Child

Oil on hardboard. Signed lower right. Francesco Mazzucchi, an artist originally from the Pavia area and active in Lombardy, dedicated himself mainly to sacred art, leaving his works in some churches in the Vigevano area. Proposed here is this delicate and tender depiction of the Madonna with Child, in the colors and scene, which sees mother and son in a moment of domestic intimacy, intent on playing with the pigeons in the garden. Oil on canvas. Center-Italian School. The glimpse shows a river that flows fastlly crossing an hilly landscape; along the shore, at the left side, there are two women that are washing clothes and a wayfarer; on the right side of the river, in the background, ther is a small hamlet. The painting shows small drops of color. It comes in a 20th century frame that had been gilded again.

Musketeer with Arquebus 1875

Oil on wood. At the bottom right the signature, date and location. The Peruvian painter Daniel Hernandez stayed in Europe for a long time, first in Rome where he dedicated himself to the study of classical painting, then in Paris, where he was influenced by impressionism. he was a portraitist and genre painter. In this work, from the Roman decade, Hernandez portrays a character from popular history, a musketeer (or perhaps a brigand?) armed with a harquebus, standing close to a stone wall adorned with a coat of arms. The work is presented in a period frame.
