Lot and his daughters

Oil on canvas. The large scene tells the biblical story of Lot and his daughters, who escaped by divine grace from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, taking refuge in a cave. The two girls, fearing they would be left childless, decided to give their father some wine and unite with him, one on the first night, the other on the second, to ensure him, in this way, a lineage. The scene depicts the moment of seduction, with the three figures standing out in the foreground and in the background on the right the destruction of the cities by a rain of sulfur and fire, which falls from the sky. Due to its sensual and morbid implications, this subject was often depicted in art. This painting can be attributed in its pictorial style to an author of the late eighteenth century who looks to the style of Johann Carl Loth, a German painter who settled in Italy, who expressed the baroque taste by initially adhering to the naturalistic and dark style of Giovanni Battista Langetti, then softening the tones around the seventies and in his late maturity. The painting, in the first canvas, presents slight losses of color. It is presented in a nineteenth-century frame.

Pair of four-flame gilded bronze candelabra supported by shell-shaped feet. Chiselled and burin workmanship with Greek frets, fruit, leaves and scrolls. Seated putto in the center.

Hilly landscape,1958

Oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. The large landscape offers a view of green and flowery hills, which opens the view onto the plain below, inhabited by several groups of houses; on the steep hill a row of cypress trees that climb diagonally, marks the climb to a house that is not visible, but identified by the gate at the base. Perhaps a landscape from Brianza (but it could also be a Tuscan glimpse!), it belongs to the vast traditionalist landscape production of the Lombard painter Arnaldo Annoni. It is presented in a contemporary frame.
