Additional Information

Artist: Gianni Dova (1925-1991)

Gianni Dova, born in Rome in 1925 but raised in Milan, attended the Brera Art School in 1942 with the intention of then moving on to the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic. But the war changed his plans, he met and frequented the artists who met in the literary cafés and who had, among others, the newspaper published by Ernesto Treccani, Corrente, as their point of reference. Among these Renato Guttuso, Emilio Vedova, Renato Birolli, Ennio Morlotti, Bruno Cassinari, Giuseppe Migneco and together with them he recognized the importance of Pablo Picasso's work, going so far as to join the Realism manifesto "Beyond Guernica" in 1946. In 1947 he also joined the Spazialista Movement with Lucio Fontana and numerous other Italian artists: Dova was among the protagonists of this movement that grew up around Carlo Cardazzo's Galleria del Naviglio and signed several posters. He later joined the nuclear painting movement with Enrico Baj and Sergio Dangelo. Dova has exhibited and achieved great success both in Italy and abroad. Dova died in Pisa on 14 October 1991, leaving his footsteps in graphics, painting, sculpture, ceramics and wall decoration.

La stampa è un processo per la produzione di testi e immagini, tipicamente mediante l'impiego dell'inchiostro su carta e di una pressa da stampa. Spesso viene svolto come processo industriale su larga scala ed è una parte essenziale dell'editoria.

Technical specification: Screen Printing

Screen printing or screen printing is a technique of artistic printing of images and graphics on any support or surface through the use of a fabric (print fabric), by depositing ink on a support through the free areas of the fabric. The term "silkscreen" derives from the Latin "seri" (silk) and the Greek "grapho" (to write), given that the first fabrics that served as stencils were made of silk.
