Larch icebox, model ' Siberia', with one door and two wooden covers on the top. Zincified interiors. Italy, early 20th Century.

Coniferous wood, however relatively hard, with a reddish grain, typical of the Alps and the Apennines. It is very resistant to moisture and woodworm. In cabinet making it was used above all for the construction of furniture structures and in France, with the name of bois de mélèze , sporadically for inlays.
