The style underlines the plasticity of the element like it was a real marble vase within a niche in the wall. The depicted shadow of the vase makes it look even more real. The painting falls within the Neoclassical taste because the sculptural plasticity overcomes the pictorial expressiveness (the predominance of shape over color).
