Description
Liquid azimuth compass / “Liquid Azimuth compass” Patent n ° 20185/08, inscribed with n ° 1186 and with “Patt: 24 C”, in brass and glass, equipped with spirit level. Gimbal suspension. The compass is inserted inside a wooden case. The instrument can be dated between 1913 and 1947, as it was in 1913 that Kelvin and James White Ltd changed their names to Kelvin, Bottomley and Baird Ltd., while in 1947, following a fruitful collaboration with Henry Hughes and Son, the two companies merged such as Kelvin and Hughes.
