Christ deposed 1962

Watercolor on paper. Signed lower right; at the bottom center the title and the date. The painting proposes the sacred scene of the Deposition in monochromatic shades of gray, softened and lightened by the use of watercolor. The sketched figures intertwine with each other in a convoluted way, creating a single volume of pathos and pain. The work belongs to the last productive period of Felice Carena: he used a lot of watercolor as well as oil painting, and he depicted numerous sacred scenes with this technique. The work is presented in a frame.

The Ceresio River, 1944

Oil on plywood. Signature and date at the bottom left. On the back there is a label of participation to the painting show at the Arengario of Monza. Carlo Aimetto was born in the province of Varese; he dedicated himself to landscapes, painting gardens, parks, mountains, marines, lakes with a personal technique. Well known is his production of landscapes of the Ceresio Valley and Intelvi Valley. The painting comes with coeval frame.

Rapallo

Oil on cardboard. Signed at the bottom center. Title on the back Raul Viviani was a writer, art reviewer, painter, draftman and engraver that trained in Milan where he made his debut at a very young age winning over the critics. He painted mostly divisionist landscapes pervading them with poetry and suspended atmosphere that gave uniqueness to his art pieces. The painting comes with frame.

The Rosa Seen by Stabbioli, Morning, 1927

Oil on board. Signed at the bottom left. On the back there is the date 17/11/27 and a dedication " gift by the artist, pupil of the painter Follini of Turin". Originally from Bologna, but soon moved to Turin, Cesare Gheduzzi was here a pupil of Carlo Follini, whose teaching was decisive for his artistic training; he devoted himself mainly to the landscape, that of his lands, animated by scenes of popular life, that he knew how to describe with fidelity and elegance. The intense landscape, a view of Monte Rosa from the wide and expansive valley of Stabbioli, part of the municipality of Macugnaga, is animated by the solitary figure of a peasant with an empty gerla on her shoulder and the goat on the side, heading towards the malga in the center. Textile reproduction in silk, in two tones Made from a design by T. Strazza, as shown below on the left. The faithful reproduction of Leonardo's painting is part of a flourishing Lombard manufacturing production, which re-proposed the masterpiece in different formats. The work is exposed in a contemporary wooden frame.

Tapestry

Tapestry, made with very fine sewing. On the bottom right is the signature P. Sacchi with the date of production 1949. The work proposes a floral composition in a vase, characterised by a rich variety of flowers. Coeval frame.

Red Figure

Oil on canvas. Signed at the bottom left. On the back there is another signature. Eliano Fantuzziwas born in Modena but gew up and studied in Verona; when he was still young he moved to Paris fascinated firstly by the enlightenment trends and then by the expessionist trends; there he started started building his career. After having served for some years in the French Army he came back to Italy in 1943 but in 1948 he wass requested by the emir Inìbim Saud to decorated the saudina palace in Taif eher he stood until 1952 frescoing the reception hall. Once back to Italy he exposed at shows and bienals. Influenced by the Expessionism during his stay in Paris he placed a strong emphasis on the expression of emotions. His figure are then not well defined but distorted in elongated forms with anonymous faces, placed in solitary and melancholic settings; the colour in its most marked ranges dominates in his canvases, usually the cold tones of blues, greens and violets, which create sometimes violent contrasts. Fantuzzi’s main themes are the solitude of the metropolis and the difficulty of communication in interpersonal relationships. The painting is presented in a frame.

Sudden Thinking, 1984

Oil on cardboard. signed top center and dated bottom right. Further signature, date and title on the back. The work belongs to the last period of the painter of Marche origins Renato Bontempi, who first trained in Luca but then lived in Milan. From the initial figurative production, Bontempi progressively moves towards an abstract painting, to which the picture proposed here belongs. In Cronice.

Watercolor on paper. Signed and dated lower right. Giuseppe Migneco, originally from Messina but moved to Milan as a young man, was one of the major representatives, together with Aligi Sassu, Renato Birolli, Bruno Cassinari, Renato Guttuso, of the Corrente group open to the European artistic avant-gardes. In favor of a painting of social commitment, he investigates reality with a critical, objective, historical eye. His characters with hard, square faces, marked by hard work and rendered with bright and strong tones, recall his Sicily with violent and clear features, but also the social realism of Mexican muralists. Portrait of a young lady

Oil on canvas. Signed bottom left. Francesco Ghisleni was an artist from Bergamo, who lived and worked in his hometown. His landscapes and views of his homeland are well known. This piece is the portrait of a young woman at the stables. Coeval frame.

In my Particular Studio 1960

Oil painting on canvas. signed and dated lower left. On the back there are additional signature and date, and handwritten writing with the title of the work and location Milan. Self-taught Milanese artist, Giovan Francesco Gonzaga declared "my true teacher is Nature", and faithful to it, he devoted himself mainly to scenes with horses (a passion inherited from his experience in the Savoia Cavalleria during the war) to landscapes and still lifes , always depicted "en plein air". Vittorio Sgarbi wrote about him: "Giovan Francesco Gonzaga's wisdom lies in the design, which is strong and decisive ..... The images vibrate with restlessness, in the sign of man's struggle against himself, in the hell of a a story that always seems to repeat the same drama. But if the preparatory drawing is admirable, the color of this artist has a regality and a sensitivity that come from a musical perception of the color, where the palette is expressed in sudden, variations and rhythms buttons ".
