Eclectic mirror in carved and gilded wood, Italy, late 19th century. Rocaille and foliate-style pastille carvings that branch off from the upper corners of the frame, ribbed Greek in the internal section. Mercury mirror.

Additional Information

Style: Eclecticism (1870-1890)

Towards the end of the 19th century, the taste for the combination of elements taken from various styles of the past asserted itself. The eclectic style is therefore characterized by the mixture of stylistic features of the Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, Neoclassicism in search of elegant compositional virtuosity.
