The Park 1979

Oil on hardboard. Signed lower right. Further signature, date and title on the back. Giovanni Balansino, Piedmontese by origin but Lombard by adoption, chose to depict his love for both lands with his painting made of broad and nervous brushstrokes, dedicating a large part of his production to them. In the proposed painting, Il Balansino presents a glimpse of a city park, with a small terraced relief, animated by a couple of barely sketched figurines that blend into the natural environment, due to the overlapping of colors applied with rapid brushstrokes and with indefinite contours. the work is presented in a frame.

Cervignano del friuli 1930

Oil on board. Signed lower left. On the back there is a further signature, with the title and the date of creation (July 1930). This small glimpse of the Friulian village located along the course of the Aussa river (or Ausa, according to the dialectal term), is part of the extensive landscape production of Carlo Sartorelli, who explored various Italian regions. Landscape with Glimpse of Small Town

Oil on cardboard. Signed lower right. In Giuseppe Solenghi's extensive production, the urban landscapes of Milan or the glimpses of the Venetian lagoon prevail, but there are also various glimpses of the countryside, mainly from Lombardy. In this glimpse of the countryside, which from the top of a hill widens the gaze on the wide valley animated by small villages, framed by flowering trees, we find the exemplary pictorial technique of Solenghi which uses a rather material color but applied with quick brushstrokes, with delicacy of colors. Ezio Pastorio, originally from Cremona but transplanted to Valseriana after his studies, is considered "a great Italian master of the 20th century, who knew how to renew the artistic language of the landscape while maintaining a strong link with 19th century painting". His production is post-impressionist in nature, especially in the large landscape production that depicts the Po and Bergamo plains, the Venetian lagoon and some Parisian glimpses, admired during some travels. In his works, Pastorio creates suggestive atmospheres using infinite ranges of colours, which harmonize and sometimes even contrast, but always presented as a transparency which annuls the static nature of the representation and with a delicacy which expresses his devout religiosity towards nature and the created. Less frequent in his production is portraiture, which nevertheless expresses his ability to use color as a delicate transparency, which brings out the effects of light and shadow generated by human expressions even in the faces. Barn door in carved wood, Dogon style. The Dogon of Mali are among the oldest surviving African cultures, known throughout the world for their creation of carved wood doors, panels and shutters. These objects have various uses in their society: firstly they are made as a closure of the granaries (hence the name), secondly they are exchanged as gifts for birthdays, weddings, bring good luck. These doors are also used for rites of passage and, when used as part of the architecture, the symbols engraved on them give clues to the function of the dwelling they protect.

Landscape with Figures and Architecture

Oil on cardboard. Signed lower right. Born in Treviso but moved with his family to Milan from an early age, Lucio Cargnel inherited his passion for painting and music from his father Vittore Antonio. As for his father, in Lucio Cargnel's painting an important role is played by the study of light, but associated with the search for a highly scenographic image, with lights and shadows that chase each other among the architectures, expressed through soft, nuanced colors. Among his works are renowned landscapes and glimpses of cities, even imaginary ones, as well as streets, squares and canals; the places of his choice are Milan, Venice and the Ligurian Riviera. Originally from Gattinara in the Vercelli area, Dedo Domenicone loved to depict small animal creatures, often reinterpreted in a fantastic key, and placed in an almost dreamlike environment. Bruno Artioli, an artist originally from Nocera Umbra, was above all a landscape painter, who interpreted both with a classic naturalism and with a geometric purity in an abstract key. In this second interpretative key, Bruno Artioli's views go beyond phenomenal reality to acquire a completely objective character, devoid of any particularism, the elements of the landscape end up being reduced to pure forms and pure colors. Horse and donkey

Oil on cardboard. Signed lower left. Tito Pellicciotti, originally from Abruzzo, was trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples under the guidance of F. Palizzi, from whom he derived his attention to animal figures, which he reproduced both in the calm of the stable and free and grazing. He also painted landscapes, genre paintings, peasant heads, particularly intense, and from 1920, after a stay in North Africa, also Arab subjects. His painting is also distinguished by the choice of bright colors. Also in this small painting the animals appear as protagonists of the scene, reproduced free to graze.
