Notes historical bibliographic

The Crystal Palace was a huge Victorian-style glass building that was erected in London in 1851 to host the first Universal Exhibition. It was installed in Hyde Park, only to be dismantled and rebuilt in another area of the city, Sydenham Hill, in 1852. It was one of the most famous examples of iron architecture[1] and inspired the construction of many other buildings, often baptized in the same way. It owes its name to the satirical periodical Punch. It was destroyed by fire in 1936; the neighborhood where the building was located still takes its name.
