Landscape with Hills, 1958

Oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. The large landscape offers a view of green and flowery hills, which opens the view onto the plain below, inhabited by several groups of houses; on the steep hill a row of cypress trees that climb diagonally, marks the climb to a house that is not visible, but identified by the gate at the base. Perhaps a landscape from Brianza (but it could also be a Tuscan glimpse!), it belongs to the vast traditionalist landscape production of the Lombard painter Arnaldo Annoni. It is presented in a contemporary frame.

Oil on canvas. Looking at the compositions of the 17th-18th century, the painting proposes a composition of variegated and colorful flowers, which surmount a sculpture of three fauns and a cut pumpkin. It is presented in a contemporary frame.

Mixed technique on paper. The work is signed lower right A. Mancini, but cannot be attributed to the master Antonio Mancini, but rather to a contemporary imitator. However of good quality, it presents the face of a young commoner. It is presented in a contemporary frame.

The landscape glimpse shows a countryside with coniferous woods, crossed by a stream and dominated by rocky peaks. Crayons on paper. At the bottom right there is a signature attributable to Andrea Favero (1837 -1914). It is a pleasant and delicate portrait of a little girl from a poor family, but dignified and proud of her hairdo. She poses outdoors, in front of a flat countryside. Oil on canvas. Signed both lower and upper left. The scene is set in a rich noble hall, where ladies and knights in eighteenth-century clothes entertain. It is the work of the prolific Neapolitan painter Salvatore Balsamo, who died very young. It is presented in a mid-1900s frame.

Male Portrait, 1913

The portrait of a gentleman of a certain age, leaning in an elegant pose on his walking stick, expresses the ability of Carlo Cazzaniga, a Milanese painter who was a pupil of Tallone, to create portraits of intense expressive force with rapid strokes of color and nuanced chromatisms. The painting is presented in a contemporary gilded frame.

The large painting features a golden frame with scrolled friezes in the center of a red background, in which a praying Virgin is painted, looking at the productions of the late 17th-early 18th century; the frame is supported on the sides by two golden cherubs, who rest their feet and hands on decorations that are also golden with scrolls, on which are inserted multi-colored leaves and flowers. The painting is pre-realized on two canvases sewn horizontally. The panel is surrounded by trimmings.

The large painting features two figures: on the right a man sitting at a table, dressed in a red dressing gown, with a sad and concentrated expression, playing with his hands with some disheveled flowers, coming from the composition on his head; on the left standing the Christ of the Passion, crowned with thorns, with a gray cloak on his shoulders. Behind the seated man, a leaden sky in which, however, a ray of light opens. The painting probably wants to allegorically depict the painful and suffered end of the life of a person, who lives the same Passion as Christ, but who yearns for a new, bright life. The work is presented in a frame.
