Royal Copenhagen Bing & Grøndahl Plate Around the World 2000
Around the World Collection Plate 2000
This plate from the Around the World series depicts the "Opera", the famous building in the gulf of Sydney, Australia. Design by the artist Swen Vestergaard. Bing & Grøndahl introduced the Around the World collector's series in 1997. The series comprises a total of six plates with motifs taken from some of the most beautiful and well-known places in the world. The motifs on these plates come from the animal world every year with the aim of underlining the attachment that binds a mother to her cubs. White porcelain plate with decorations in various shades of blue. Each plate was produced in limited quantities only and exclusively in the year shown on the plate itself and production ended at the end of the year with the destruction of the original shape which made it impossible to reproduce. As a guarantee of authenticity, the plate bears the Bing & Grøndahl trademark with the three towers, inspired by the coat of arms of the city of Copenhagen, and the initials of the painter who created the unique illustration on the plate. The plate measures 18 cm. in diameter and on the back it has two holes made by Bing & Grøndahl during production so that it can be hung.
