On the back there is a scroll with an old attribution to Hubert Robert (1733 -1808), a French painter who traveled in Italy bringing back various picturesque views and glimpses, populated by architectural ruins. In this work, the glimpse of a hilly countryside is set in a village with farmhouses and a fountain in the centre, in the midst of which however there are also classical architectural ruins: in the center three columns of a temple, further on the left the ruins of an amphitheater. Several popular figurines wander among the structures. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a frame.

According to the taste of the 18th century, the proposed landscape is dominated by the remains of an ancient temple, vestiges of past glories. All around there is a countryside with a stream, but fading in the distance towards the blue peaks of a mountain range. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a period frame.

Oil on cardboard. Signed lower right. Further signature, date, title and handwritten declaration of authenticity on the back. Giovanni Balansino, Piedmontese by origin but Lombard by adoption, chose to depict his love for both lands with his painting made of broad and nervous brushstrokes, dedicating a large part of his production to them. In the proposed painting, the title is from the white flowering of the trees that surround the country house. The work is presented in a frame.

The vertically developed landscape sees an imposing architectural structure in ruins at the centre, invaded by weeds and presented with nuanced colors and features, as if to underline its decadence. In front, in the foreground and well defined, some figures of shepherds at rest, while the cows graze: one shepherd plays the whistle, the second, sitting leaning on his stick, observes the third, who, having stripped naked, is intent on washing himself, stretched languidly on the edge of the waterhole. On the left there is a glimpse of rocky peaks, gray under a sky with dawn atmospheres. The restored and framed painting is presented with a strip frame.
