Oil on canvas. With reference to the painting style (the intense realism expressed by shapes and colours and the skillful use of lights) and especially to the subject (marine iconography, her favourite subject), the work can be attributed to Elena Recco, Neapolitan paintress operative between the end of the 17th century and the begin of the 18th century. Belonging to a popular dynasty of painters, of which the most famous was her father Giuseppe Recco, appreciated genre painter. Valued and high-quality paintress, Elena Recco was invited to the Spanish Court where she lived for long periods of time and where some of her canvas are housed. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a end 1700 frame.
