Description : Ritratto di cardinale.
Oil on canvas. The words next to the portrait identifies the Cardinal Pompeo Arrigoni (1552 ca .- 1616): auditor of the Sacred roman Rota since 1590, it was one of the most listened to advisers of the various popes that succeeded during his life (Clement VIII, Leo XI, and finally, Paul (V), from whom he received many offices of trust and responsibility; and, in 1607, who fell into disgrace, was removed from Rome and from the papal Curia, and sent to govern the Diocese of Benevento, where he remained until his death. The painting, previously restored and ritelato, show signs of preparation for further integration of the restoration, as a result of large drops of color.
