Oil painting on canvas signed in the lower right corner. Label with number of catalog and title on the back. The artist was born in Naples where he also studied. Later he moved to Paris and London where he enriched his painting technique still faithful to the late Neapolitan 19th century. His painting production counts landscapes and glimpses of London and Paris, but also Naples; portraits and daily life scenes. The painting depicts a jockey during a horse show. The setting recalls the famous English racecourses. The painting is presented in revival frame, 20th century.

Artist: Eugenio Scorzelli (1890-1958)
Born in Buenos Aires in 1890 to a Neapolitan family, Eugenio Scorzelli trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he was a student of great masters such as Palizzi, Morelli and Cammarano. He then moved for a long time to Paris and London, where he enriched his painting, still faithful to the last Neapolitan nineteenth century, with new inspirations. In his production there are landscapes and views of London and Paris, but also Neapolitan; portraits, figure paintings and scenes of everyday life. Returning to Italy in the 1930s, he in turn taught at the Academy of Fine Arts, continued to paint, also creating many interior scenes, and exhibiting in Naples, Milan and Venice. Scorzelli died in Naples in 1958.
