In the scene, a man runs, hiding his face from the rising sun light with his arm, holding a dagger in his other hand; a woman with a tiara and rich garments chases him, trying to grab him by his arm; the walls of the city they are leaving can be seen behind them. The scene certainly refers to an unidentified mythological or epic episode, but the pathos it conveys is beautifully rendered from a pictorial point of view. The painting, restored and recanvased in antique, is presented in an antique frame.
