Description : Santo Stefano

Oil on the table. The work, of beautiful quality, is an evident example of the Renaissance revival that spanned the 19th century, which concerned mainly architecture but also, to a lesser extent, other decorative arts. The proposed work presents the Saint half-length, standing still, turned sideways, looking towards the center of what appears to be a triptych composition, typical of Renaissance sacred art. The identification in Santo Stefano is due to the diaconal habit, together with the palm and, above all, to the martyrdom stones that he wears resting on his shoulders, his specific iconographic symbol. The table is presented in a coeval frame, gilded and decorated with engravings.
