Lo Spinario is a Hellenistic work of sculpture, depicting a seated young man while, with his legs crossed, he leans to the side to remove a thorn from the sole of his left foot. There are various versions scattered in museums all over the world. The perhaps oldest one, in bronze (73 cm high), is located in the Capitoline Museums in Rome, while a marble one is part of the Uffizi collection in Florence and was copied by Brunelleschi in the famous panel of the competition for the north door of the Baptistery of the 1401. Another marble copy is in the Louvre, a bronze one in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.Age: 19th Century / 1801 - 1900
