Description:
Retouched photograph. Signed and located in Milan in the lower right corner. Alfredo Zoli was an active photographer in Milan in Via Manzoni 23, an innovator in the photographic field, who portrayed his subjects in spontaneous poses and attitudes and treated the negatives in order to give the final portrait the appearance of an etching, of an charcoal or an oil painting. For his portraits, Zoli coined the term "psychoptography", a neologism that embodies his artistic intentions: psychological identification of the subject, photographic mastery and pictorial intervention. A successful portraitist in Milan, Zoli counted among his clients Luigi Pirandello, Isa Miranda, Sem Benelli, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Aldo Spallicci, Gilberto Govi and many other personalities of Italian cultural life between the two wars and after the Second World War. The proposed female portrait is presented in a frame.
