Description : Scene di vita di S.Antonio Abate
A set of eight oil paintings on canvas assembled on wooden panels. They were assembled in the early 20th century using antique wood and a pair of Baroque outlines. The eight scenes depict some moments of St. Antony's life (approximately 251-356), the founder of the Christian monasticism and the first hermit. Among the scenes, it's depicted the fight with the Devil and the temptations the Saint had suffered. Moreover, you can recognize the scene depicting the meeting with the centaur, who showed the Saint the way to meet with Paul of Thebes; then the meeting itself; the raven that will bring him bread during the hermitage. Fair condition, some color losses. 17th century.
