Description : La strage degli innocenti

Oil on canvas. Italan School. The famous and sad Gospel's episode represented with a close view that underlines the personal drama of a mother that fights with a soldier that tries to kill her son while on the background and on the lower part is repited the scene- the kille child and the soldier with is sword lifted up- that makes the pain unanimous. The tragedyiof the scene is affected by the emprouvemnts that the school of Caravaggio had given to paint: highlited plastic poses of the characters, bright and intense colors, light plays. Already restored and displayed in a contemporary frame.
