Description : Cristo crocifisso con Maddalena e angeli

Oil on canvas. School north-european. All the tension of the scene is projected to the top: the verticality of the Cross, with the wood transverse, very short and high which forces the arms of Jesus a vertical position; the Magdalene at the foot of the Cross, raising his arms seems almost to want to push the body of the Crucified one; the Angels that extend toward the dying Jesus to support him and accompany him. The background at the bottom, a profile of the city just mentioned, but the dark and irrelevant: the event has nothing of land, but prevailing, instead, the spiritual dimension. Also the game of colors participates in this symbolism: the brightness of the white of the body of Christ, and of the clothes of an angel, already a prelude to the Resurrection; the red of the dresses of mary Magdalene and one of the angels, indicates the love and passion that permeate the event. The painting, restored and ritelato, is presented in the frame of this ancient product.
