Oil on canvas. Signed at the bottom right. On the back there is another signature with title. The painter was born and trained in Naples and he traveled along Italy and abroad looking for naturalistic subjects that he preferred: unique are his paintings of italian piers, in particular those of Campania; well known are also his marine landscpaes of Sorrento, Capri, Maiori, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Coast; unusal are his mountain landscapes, woods, country houses;he rarely painted city glmpses, mostly of Naples and Venice. Briante stands out for a full-bodied brushstroke, almost material, well evident even in this harbour glimpse. The painting is presented in a revival frame.
