Description : La negazione di Pietro
Oil on canvas, applied to plywood. The scene represents the episode of the Gospel of the Passion, in which the apostle Peter, while Jesus is already before the Sanhedrin, recognized by a woman as a follower of the condemned, denies this knowledge. In the proposed painting, Pietro, depicted according to the iconographic tradition as an old man with a white beard, is in the midst of two women, one questioning him, as his gestures clearly emphasize, the other curiously awaiting an answer. The work has some small drops of color, especially along the edges. It is presented in a mid-20th century frame.
