Oil painting on canvas. Flemish school of the seventeenth-eighteenth century. In a dark and high-rise interior, there is the workshop of an all-round surgeon who, at the center of the scene, is busy with the wide open mouth of a young man; outline, but confused in the darkness, two other figures attend the intervention. The two central figures are the only ones illuminated and characterized by bright colors, receiving the light from the window at the top left, through which a ray of sunlight enters to project onto the floor at the bottom right and to bring out the objects found on the counter. work, where ampullae and tomes stand out; all the rest of the environment and the other figures are barely outlined in their contours, barely perceptible shadows. The painting has been restored and relined. It is presented in a mid-20th century frame.
